About US
Hello, get to know DHS

The origin of our mother school, Deparo High School (DHS), can be traced back from the time it was still known as Deparo Barangay High School (DBHS) in SY 1972. The school was then under the principal of Deparo Elementary School until 1981. Interestingly, it started with one classroom teacher with forty-two (42) students in its first batch. Then, the number of classes became three, while three teachers were forming the faculty in its second year until it completed its four-year level in SY 1975 – 1976. Finally, in SY 1975-1976, DBHS had its first batch of graduates. The very first teacher of DBHS was Ms. Basilia Candido Ramos, who then turned to Mrs. Basilia R. Vilbar in 1973. Over the years, Mrs. Vilbar has witnessed how the school grew and evolved.
For nine years, DHS has been under the umbrella of Deparo Elementary School. The school Principals in-charge during that time were Mr. Juanito P. Dela Cruz, Mrs. Celia Tuvera, Mr. Julita Paunan, Mrs. Luningning Villamejor, and Mr. Ceasar Pangilinan. Also, in 1979, after the school’s population had tremendously expanded, its name was changed from Deparo Barangay High School to Deparo High School. Potent developmental changes continued to take place to a great extent until finally on June 29, 1992, the Sangguniang Panglungsod, City of Caloocan passed Ordinance No. 0131, s. 1992 which provides among others that the real property known as Lot 7 Block 11, Phase 1, with an area of three thousand six hundred fifty-three (3,653) sq. Meters situated at Deparo, Caloocan City, was reserved for exclusive use for Deparo High School by way of Memorandum of Agreement. This ordinance was approved by the City Mayor of Caloocan, Mayor Macario A. Asistio, Jr. on July 13, 1992. Finally, in 1993, the school had its separate place to operate headed by its then Principal Mrs. Marcela S. Malabanan.
Starting SY 1993-1994, Deparo High School was completely and independently housed in its new location covering an area of 3, 265square meters of lot situated in an open space in one of the subdivisions in Caloocan City. At the onset of the school’s operation, no problem was noted in terms of its physical facilities. The location is perfect and accessible to transportation and is far from noise, pollution, and other disturbing factors that would affect learning. Due to its strategic location, residential subdivisions increased within the area, thus giving rise to future clients. The necessity for a bigger site is becoming the trend as the population is getting bigger every school year.
Today, Deparo High School caters to 2,792 students with two shifts of classes each day. Grades 7 and 9 students attend the morning session and the Grades 8 and 10 attend in the afternoon session. There are 110 teachers stationed at DHS, 8 are Department Heads, and 80 are classroom teachers.
DHS’s vision has remained in developing and molding its students. Over the years, it has continued to stick to its goal as a catalyst for good change as envisioned by the then principals, Mrs. Adelaida M. Clamor, Mrs. Dolores Diaz, Mrs. Marcela S. Malabanan, Dr. Juanito B. Victoria, Dr. Nenita E. Mercado, Mr. Eustaquio Gagarra, Mrs. Violeta E. Sison, Dr. Clarita M. Martinez, Dr. Nellie D. Salvador, and Dr. Arlene C. Ocol.
At present, the newly assigned principal, Ms. Cristina P. Tablanza, Principal II through the support of the present School Governance Council composed of the Barangay Chairman, SPTA president, Faculty Club President, Department Heads and coordinators, and SSC president, and the whole faculty continued to implement change toward making the Deparo High School a center of excellence for global competence.
